Island Shingle Style
Modern craft meets tradition

This shingle style house honors the historical 19th century shingle style context on a Maine island while embracing timeless geometric forms. The design reflects a pure interpretation of shingle-style architecture, relying on its abstract, sculptural qualities to feel relevant in the 21st century. The house form comes to a point, mimicking the Islands point and the sites bluff edge that it is located on. The details emphasize the exceptional craftsmanship rooted in Maine’s traditions, drawing direct inspiration from the region’s wooden boat-building heritage. Landscaping work is ongoing, further enhancing the home’s connection to its historic setting.
